Partir
aos poucos vamos partindo.
Um bocadinho de cada vez.
Porque,
em cada despedida,
diferentes momentos passam a simples recordações.

=========================
Se souberes adormecer
Com o dia no olhar
O teu sonho viverás
E ao chegar o amanhecer
Não terás que aceitar
Entrar no jogo a perder
agarra o dia a nascer

St. Patricks day

St. Patrick "used the shamrock to teach people about Christianity as he travelled around Ireland. He told people that each of the three leaves illustrated the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit of the Holy Trinity."

This is the reason why Shamrock is the symbol of this day. Nevertheless this is likely to be pure mythology since old Irish manuscripts make no reference to this in connection with St Patrick.
St. Patrick is most known for driving away the snakes from Ireland.
"Different tales tell of his standing upon a hill, using a wooden staff to drive the serpents into the sea, banishing them forever from the shores of Ireland.
It is true that there are no snakes in Ireland, but probably never had been. As in many old pagan religions serpent symbols were common, and driving the snakes from Ireland was probably symbolic of putting an end to the pagan practice. "
St. Patrick facts:
- St Patrick really existed
- Born in Britain (probably in Wales) in 5th century AD
- His father, Calpurnius, was a Roman official
- St Patrick was originally a pagan, not a Christian
- Taken to Ireland as a slave at age 16
- Escaped after 6 years
- Became a Christian priest, and later a Bishop
- Returned to Ireland as a missionary
- Played a major part in converting the Irish to Christianity
- Some of his writings survive, the Confessio and the Letter to Coroticus
St. Patrick's Festival
This day is celebrated in more countries around the world than any other.
However, celebrations held in Ireland for St. Patrick's Day prior to 1996 were not very known. Only in November 1995, the Government of Ireland decided to establish St. Patricks Festival.
Nowadays, months of preparation are necessary to plan Ireland's biggest annual celebration(with 4 days of events).
Factos:
St Patrick existiu;
Nasceu no séc.5 AD na Grã-Bretanha, provavelmente em Wales;
O pai, Calpurnius, foi um oficial Romano;
St. Patrick era inicialmente pagão, não Cristão;
Com 16 anos, foi trazido para a Irlanda como escravo;
Fugiu após 6 anos;
Tornou-se padre Cristão e mais tarde bispo;
Voltou à Irlanda como missionário;
Desempenhou um papel importante na conversão da Irlanda ao cristianismo;

rag week-the end
this week is just an excuse to drink with sale promotions;
to make parties and drink;
to go to the pubs.... and drink;
to not go to the lectures...drink;
sleep a little bit..and dream about drinks.
to raise some money to charity (or to drink????)
to make a lot of noise (because almost everyone is drunk);
to make "strange" things to raise money (or because they are drunk??)
and this is the worst week in the semester for tests !!!!!!!!
I could not see the things they were doing because I had to study :(

"rag week " parte 2
"While Rag Week commences this Monday it is important to remember what it is about.
Raising and Giving (RAG) - raising money for charity.
If you are going to participate in Rag Week, the Students' Union would ask you to:
· Drink sensibility
· Lookafter each other
· Have regard for all who live in the community, neighbours, fellow students,staff and the general public
· Don't drink and drive
It is worth mentioning that the Gardai have expressed concern over RagWeek and have indicated that there will be no tolerance for anti-social behaviour. Make sure you get involved in raising money for charity this week while keeping the above points in mind during the week.Have fun and keep safe."
"Rag week"
"RAG WEEK is a time-old tradition in RAG's in different universities across the country.
It was once a week in the academic year where all hell breaks loose and raggies did anything and everything in their power to raise as much money as possible, many acts of which were illegal...but now it is a lot tamer but equally as fun! "
http://lusu.co.uk/rag/ragweek/
"In some universities Rags are known as Charity Appeals, Charity Kommittees, or Karnivals, but they all share many of the same attributes, and together raise over a million pounds for charity each year"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAG_(student_society)
